The scope of the upgraded synchronization solution now includes enhanced PNT resilience to resist interference and spoofing attacks as well as cyber threats

ADVA announced a new software version of its core and edge timing technology, which provides a higher level of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) security and flexibility for synchronized networks. The new version follows the flexible PNT conformance framework issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The upgraded PTP master clock solution series now enables operators to automatically utilize public key infrastructure. The company said that, along with enhanced certificate management, this provides stronger security and eliminates complexity.

ADVA's core and mid-sized PTP master devices now also integrate enhanced aPNT+ technology, providing advanced interference and spoofing detection and mitigation through automatic switching in the event of a network attack.

This software replaces the expensive hardware devices previously used for PNT protection, and achieves DHS level 4 enhancements in the self-survivability of PNT, which is the highest in the industry. The new software version also supports 100 Mbit/s optical fiber for interconnection with third-party suppliers’ optical timing channels and supports PTP profiles for a wide range of industries.

“Today’s timing networks require greater accuracy than ever before. However, mission-critical national networks need to be more resilient and secure as defined by the latest standards. With our trusted PNT assurance solutions, we are providing today’s operations GNSS protection and network security needed to meet current and future challenges," said Gil Biran, General Manager of ADVA Oscilloquartz. "From the phase synchronization of critical national infrastructure to the traceable time stamp in the financial network, highly accurate and protected time is the key to successful operation. This upgrade sets a new standard for secure synchronization and provides it to more More networks."

The new 11.1.1 software version is upgraded to ADVA's comprehensive Oscilloquartz edge timing product OSA 5412/22 series and its core synchronization device OSA 5430/40 series. These solutions now provide multiple layers of security for the synchronization infrastructure through improved authentication management and PKI.

As part of ADVA's smart and scalable PNT platform ADVA aPNT+, these solutions also feature innovations in countermeasures to detect deception and interference and prevent service interruptions. With PTP functions suitable for new verticals, including PTP broadcast profiles (SMPTE ST-2059-2/AES67), the new version will bring accurate and reliable synchronization to many new customers.
