Listed with Bring a Trailer, the custom-bodied classic has a 4.2-liter engine and participated in a number of vintage races.

Occasionally on car auction sites, something very interesting will crop up for sale. Either a super rare supercar, a classic muscle car or something completely different.

Bring a Trailer often has some fascinating cars listed, and this is no exception. The site currently has a custom bodied Jaguar Special for sale, that is located in Seattle, Washington. Built in the 1950s, this Jaguar Special, underwent a big refurbishment in the 1980s after falling into disrepair.

This custom bodied Jaguar Special has an aluminum body that was apparently crafted by metal shaper and fabricator Jack Sutton, over a custom tubular frame that houses a Jaguar powertrain. The origin of the tubular frame is not confirmed, but the bodywork the car is in wears older blue paintwork and has white Le Mans stripes running across it.

During the car’s refurbishment in the 1980s, reinforcements to the car allegedly got made, to the frame and the body. The listing states that there are a few chippings and imperfections in the finish of the Jaguar.

Continuing to look at the outside, the car has chrome wire wheels that are now secured in place by two-eared knock-offs, and these wear 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato tires. There are a few interesting exterior details too, which include a louvered hood that is also secured by a leather hood strap, driver-side and central Raydyot mirrors with machine-tuned housings and a wrap around windshield.

The nose features a Jaguar badge, and there are also covered headlights, fender vents and rear quarter louvers to help complete the custom look. It is also worth mentioning that only 17,000 miles are on the clock of this peculiar car.

The interior certainly evokes the 1950s. There is a pair of fixed-back bucket seats in tan leather, with matching upholstery covering the door panels, perimeter surfaces, and the shifter boot.

There is a Sparco harness for the driver's seat and a Simpson latch-and link harness for the passenger. Under the hood of this Jaguar Special is a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six engine that has triple Weber 45 DCOE carburetors.

The car is rear-wheel driven and the power goes to those rear wheels thanks to a four-speed manual transmission with straight cut gears. This car is for off-road use only, and at the time of writing the bidding stood at $35,000.
