Hirose has developed a new type of hybrid flexible printed circuit (FPC) / flat flexible connector (FFC), which can significantly save space compared with competing products with the same allowable current. The TF43SW series hybrid connector combines power contacts capable of handling 12 and 0.5 A signal contacts, with a height of only 1.2 mm and an installation depth of 4.0 mm. TF43SW series is suitable for FPC/FFC standard thickness 0.3 mm (±0.03 mm). The TF43SW series has 66 contacts (positions) with a pitch of 0.5 mm and a length of 47.88 mm.

The unique contact actuator design has a fixed piece to prevent accidental separation of the actuator. The fixing piece surrounds the actuator shaft and hooks on the cavity to prevent the actuator from opening. The combination of the actuator fixing piece and the 2-point contact design enhances the reliability and robustness of the TF43SW series.

The TF43SW series also prevents solder wicking through a nickel barrier coating.

"Compared with similar connectors on the market, TF43SW can save up to 22.9% of space," said Mark Kojak, vice president of sales and marketing at Hirose Electric USA. "Hybrid FPC/FFC is ideal for various space-constrained applications that require high power and signal capabilities."

The compact TF43SW series of connectors are commonly used in portable and consumer electronics applications, including smart TVs, laptops and tablets, gaming systems, hard drives and optical pickups, as well as office equipment, medical equipment, and industrial machinery.
