The New York Office of Children and Family Services manages $25 million in funding to provide childcare support for the children of essential staff. The Basic Worker Scholarship is only available to residents of New York State and will be paid out every week through direct payments to childcare providers on behalf of parents. Families who currently receive childcare scholarships under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act are strongly encouraged to apply for this new funding opportunity. The statewide utility blackout ban that expired in New York State on March 31 has been extended. The law will suspend the shutdown of public utilities, including water, heating, electricity, telephone, cable and broadband services, until the end of the COVID-19 emergency, or until December 31, 2021, whichever comes first. For New Yorkers who have suffered financial losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the law provides for an extension of the suspension for 180 days.

Reimbursement of funeral expenses for COVID-19 deaths

FEMA provides financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses. On June 29, 2021, FEMA revised its funeral assistance policy to help respond to COVID-19-related deaths that occurred in the early stages of the pandemic. This policy change will allow applicants to submit a signed statement from the certified official or local forensic doctor or coroner on the death certificate, attributing the death to a COVID-19 death that occurred between January 20 and May 16, 2020.

Call this dedicated toll-free number and complete the COVID-19 funeral assistance application with the help of a FEMA representative. Multilingual services will be provided. EvictionFreeNY.org is a free tool created by JustFix and Right to Counsel that allows tenants to exercise their rights under the New York State Suspended Eviction Order. The website helps renters fill out and send a hardship statement to the court and their landlord to suspend their eviction cases until January 15, 2022.

Public hearing on maximum basic rent 

The New York State Department of Housing and Community Reconstruction (DHCR) will hold a public hearing via a conference call on Thursday, November 18, 2021. The purpose is to collect information related to all factors that DHCR may consider when determining the maximum base rent (MBR). The Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (effective from June 14, 2019) applies to rent-controlled housing in New York City for the biennial MBR cycle from 2022 to 2023.

The morning hearing will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm, and the afternoon meeting will be held from 2 pm to 4:30 pm. It is recommended that speakers register in advance. Those who wish to pre-register can call the office of Executive Assistant Michael Berrios at (718) 262-4816 or send an email to michael.berrios@hcr.ny.gov, and provide their name, contact phone number, email address and at the hearing The preferred time to speak and the name of the organization represented.

Since Thursday, October 7, applications for the Landlord Rental Assistance Program (LRAP) are being accepted, which provides rental assistance to landlords who are unwilling to apply for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), including tenants who have left the leased property. It can provide assistance to families whose rent is up to 150% of the fair market rent (FMR) in the county where the property is located. Apply for LRAP online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Important note: Landlords are encouraged to collect all required information, including proof of ownership and rent amount, before starting the application, because documents must be uploaded at the time of application to complete and submit the application.

U.S. Small Business Administration helps deal with storm damage

You can call 311 for food assistance. Each box will provide six meals (three lunches and three dinners), and residents can request a delivery meal or a two-week meal. Meals need to be heated and refrigerated, fresh or frozen. If you need cooling or heating equipment, the city government may help. Serve halal, kosher or non-special meals.

To apply for flood assistance from FEMA, visit DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app, or call 1-800-621-3362. The operator is on duty 7 days a week from 8 am to 7 pm. Please note that if you register online instead of by phone, you may receive a faster response.

Flood relief for undocumented New Yorkers

On September 28, Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio provided undocumented New Yorkers who suffered devastating floods during Hurricane Ida 27 million US dollars in economic relief. Funds will be provided to New Yorkers who are not eligible for storm recovery assistance through the FEMA Personal Assistance Program or other means. The New York State Office for New Americans (ONA) is administering this program. In order to be eligible for this financial relief, applicants must a) not be eligible for FEMA assistance, and b) there are no people in the family who are eligible for assistance.

A select group of non-profit organizations will provide information, assistance and help to residents affected by the storm. In the Bronx, the Catholic Charity Community Service Center at 402 East 152nd Street, Bronx, NY 10455 will provide services. The plan is now open. Call the ONA hotline 1-800-566-7636 for help regarding the application location. The application period will end on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Congressman Jeffrey Dinowitz (AD 81) recently summarized the main content of the plan and how it might affect residents in the Northwest Bronx. The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) announced on Friday, October 1 that the eight-month "hot season" in New York City has begun, during which all residential building owners must maintain indoor temperatures at daytime outdoor temperatures It is 68 degrees below 55 degrees. Regardless of the outdoor temperature, the indoor temperature must be kept at a minimum of 62 degrees overnight. The law requires building owners to provide 120 degrees hot water throughout the year. "Mom to Bee Exhibition" event

The annual "Mommy to Bee Expo" event will be held at Lehman College on Saturday, November 20th. There will be vendors, information and resources, health and wellness tips, prize draws and gifts. Guests can listen to discussions from health experts about breastfeeding, nutrition tips, childcare, work, WIC and postpartum physique. Suppliers will also sell spa/self-care products, health products, toiletries, party supplies, natural baby clothing, etc. In 2018, the infant mortality rate in New York City fell to a low of 3.9 per 1,000 live births, which has declined since 2017 (4.3 deaths per 1,000 live births). House prices in the Bronx are higher.

Due to recent COVID-19 regulations, all pregnant mothers and their guests are required to wear masks throughout the event and must show proof of vaccination/PCR testing. This will be checked on entry. Places are limited and registration is required in advance.

Alzheimer's disease research 

Albert Einstein College of Medicine is looking for volunteers between the ages of 40 and 65 who live, work or visit in Co-op City or neighboring communities to participate in an exciting study that examines the food we eat, memory and Alz The relationship between the risks of Haimer disease. As of July 6, the New York Public Library has reopened all available locations in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island (except locations that are undergoing improvements or are being used by New York City). NYPL provides almost comprehensive services, including general library use and seating, unlimited browsing, laptop and computer access, etc. Face-to-face courses and courses will also resume in certain locations in July and will be expanded in the coming months. Black Entrepreneur of New York (BE NYC)

Black entrepreneurs face huge obstacles and are seriously underrepresented among business owners in New York City. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced on Monday, September 13 that all 472 subway stations in New York City have installed security cameras. On September 11, cameras were deployed at station 472 of Broadway Station on Line G. Officials said that thousands of cameras have been deployed throughout the system since then. Last year, Sarah Feinberg, interim president of the New York City Department of Transportation, accelerated measures to expand the coverage of security cameras. She identified a new type of camera that can be deployed much faster than traditional cameras and at a cost. Much lower. The New York City Department of Health Operations recently launched a pilot program to help stop illegal dumping of garbage and increase and focus its work in certain areas. So far, they have been to #Brooklyn CB5 and #Bronx CB2. They issue subpoenas, seize vehicles, and even arrest (and clean up the mess).

Illegal dumping leads to unsightly and unsafe conditions. Residents and businesses must abide by the rules; it is a legal and ethical responsibility to put garbage in the proper place. Montefiore Health System and United Healthcare Reach agreement 

Montefiore Health System (MHS) and UnitedHealthcare have reached an agreement on a long-term contract to resume in-network access to all Montefiore Health System hospitals and healthcare providers from December 1, 2021 for UnitedHealthcare and Oxford employer-sponsored programs, and As UnitedHealthcare's Medicare dual special needs plan. According to hospital officials, the agreement restored in-network access to 10 Montefiore hospitals and more than 200 outpatient facilities in the Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, and Orange counties.
